Mmofraturo Girls Boarding School, located in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, is a distinguished institution with a rich legacy of empowering young women through quality education. Established in 1930, the school has consistently produced influential leaders in various sectors, including law, journalism, and public service.

In recent years, Mmofraturo has undertaken significant infrastructure improvements to enhance student welfare. Notably, in May 2022, the school inaugurated a solar-powered eight-seater water closet toilet facility, equipped with a mechanized borehole, to address long-standing sanitation challenges. This initiative was led by the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, an alumna of the school, and was supported by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency .

The school’s commitment to holistic development is further exemplified by its 90th-anniversary celebrations, which highlighted its ongoing mission to provide quality education and foster leadership among young women. Mmofraturo continues to be a beacon of excellence, nurturing future leaders who contribute significantly to national development

The ceremony was held in the school park, beautifully decorated with banners and balloons, creating an atmosphere of celebration and excitement.

The Graduation program was designed to celebrate the achievements of our students and acknowledge their academic and personal growth throughout the school year.

Key highlights of the program included:

Academic Achievements: Recognition of students who excelled academically, including awards for outstanding performance in subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English, and Social Studies.

Special Achievements: Acknowledgment of students who demonstrated exceptional talents in extracurricular activities, sports, arts, and community service.

Graduation Certificates: The distribution of graduation certificates to each student, presented by the Headmistress and Invited Guest, signifying the successful completion of elementary school.

Student Performances: Enthralling performances by students, showcasing their talents in music, dance, and drama, adding to the vibrancy of the ceremony.

Parent and Teacher Recognition: A heartfelt tribute to the parents and teachers who supported and guided the students throughout their elementary school journey, emphasizing the importance of their roles in the students’ success.

The Career Day event at Mmofraturo Girls Boarding School was organized with the primary objective of exposing our students to a wide range of professions, fostering their curiosity about the world of work, and helping them make informed decisions about their future careers. The event took place in the school Park, where different professionals set up interactive booths to engage students and share insights about their respective careers.

Activities and Highlights:

Guest Speakers: We were honored to host professionals from diverse fields, including doctors, engineers, artists, scientists, police officers, firefighters, entrepreneurs, and more. Each guest speaker shared their personal and professional experiences, highlighting the skills, qualifications, and passion required for their respective careers. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the speakers, gaining valuable firsthand knowledge.

Interactive Booths: Professionals at each booth set up interactive displays, demonstrations, and hands-on activities related to their professions. For instance, the science booth had exciting experiments, the art booth allowed students to unleash their creativity, and the healthcare booth demonstrated basic first aid techniques. These activities made learning engaging and memorable for the students.

Career Workshops: Concurrent workshops were conducted throughout the day, focusing on essential skills such as communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity. The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is a standardized examination in Ghana that is administered to students in the final year of Junior High School (JHS). The BECE assesses students’ knowledge and skills in various subjects and is a crucial examination as it determines the placement of students into senior high schools (SHS) and technical institutions.

As of my last update in January 2022, the BECE format includes multiple-choice questions, written essays, and practical examinations in subjects like English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies, and several electives such as Agricultural Science, French, and ICT (Information and Communication Technology).
